With a heart full of gratitude and sorrow, I share my decision to resign as Associate Minister of First Congregational Church of Akron. After much prayAkronFCC Resignation er and reflection, I believe it’s time for me to step aside as the church prepares to welcome its next senior minister. In this letter, I reflect on the joys, challenges, and transformations we’ve shared and the radical love that defines this community. My deepest prayer is that the church will continue to be a beacon of compassion, justice, and healing, and though I may be stepping away, my heart will always remain with you.

In this reflection, I share my thoughts on a difficult moment during the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Coalition Scholarship Event held at First Congregational Church of Akron. While the event celebrated youth and honored Dr. King’s legacy, oneMLK Response Letter  speaker’s remarks stood in stark contrast to our Open and Affirming values. This letter reaffirms my unwavering commitment to inclusion, offers an apology to those who were hurt, and promises to continue working toward a community grounded in love, justice, and safety for all—especially the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized groups.
